I first sat at a piano at the age of 7, pressured by my parents to learn how to play because it would be “good for me”… I wanted nothing to do with it. As I grew up, I found that songs I loved and gravitated to were all heavily piano-based. Still remembering how to read music, I decided to learn my first real first song on piano at the age of thirteen and realized that I could re-create the very melodies that I heard over and over again in my headphones. My early piano playing was heavily influenced by pop-rock piano (Five For Fighting, Sara Bareilles, Jon McLaughlin, Train and Billy Joel but as I grew into my 20’s, more classical and hypnotic melodies started pouring out of me. I discovered artists like Vontmer, Allysium, and Nils Frahm, and found myself turning to this music to cope with anxiety and stress – piano became my secret place to hide. But now it’s time to share that place with you. I hope these melodies and sounds bring you to a place of peace, wonder, and imagination. I pray these melodies help you see something that has been with you all along, and that they awaken something within you that has been aching to get out. – solsey
